Amazingly, Zipper Interactive servers for SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs have continued to be active since the game's original debut on the PlayStation 2 in 2002, meaning that crazy people dedicated fans with online adapter-equipped PS2s have been able to keep playing for nearly 10 years. Now though, since Zipper Interactive doesn't exist anymore and everything, the servers for four PS2 SOCOM games and four PSP SOCOM titles will be taken offline at the end of August.

PlayStation 2 SOCOMs I, II, and III (as well as SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault) will be going dark, as will the PSP various SOCOM titles, Fireteam Bravo (I, II and III) and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strke.

If this outage affects your regular gaming routine, we offer our most sincere condolences. Also, we'd like to point out that many thousands of games have been released since 2002, some of which you might enjoy. Perhaps this will be a good opportunity to go check some of 'em out?
Basically, Zipper Interactive shut down after releasing Unit 13 so their getting rid of the Socom Servers (from Zipper). Never actually owned a Socom Game, but from what I've read from you guys, the online matches are full of hackers. Besides, the games are pretty old anyway.

Lol I remember when I joined a clan, then it went from game, to LIFE. I once pulled an all nighter on a practice once.

lol i feel all ya bros, these games used to be my life as well. i played FTB2 so much, it wasnt even funny. like ALL weekend, every weekend was just me and FTB2. i was gonna re-buy a PSP for the socom games, but i guess thats gone... this really sucks.

RIP Socom Online, especially FTB2-3

Tactical Strike Confrontation and FTB3 should remain up, given they're Slant Suck's fault. I'm curious as to whether or not MAG, Unit 13 and SOCOM 4 will be affected.

I had a plunge of grades when I had FTB3 in Year 8 lol staying up until 2am-7am to play with friends on the other side of the Atlantic.

I played FTB2 religiously from 2006 to 2010, FTB3's release.

That 's kinda sad to hear this, but it should make sense... By the way, I wonder why would they shutdown FTB3 's servers so fast ? It 's still a good PSP game and it 's only been 2 years since its release.

And MAG, SOCOM 4, Unit 13 still have a big number of players so I doubt they will get shutdown anytime soon.

Played a few matches on the PSP versions, never liked it one bit.
The PS2 versions still had some dedicated players, very fun and nice to play with. (And no hackers)

Never liked I cared much about the Socom games though

I remember having lots of fun on FTB2 and the old clan on FTB3. Had lots of fun and it's sad to see it go.

Ahh great memories with PDC's clan and setting up matches
Im gonna be pretty sad considering that was my first shooter and online game ever
-sigh

I wish i still had a working psp so i can have a good couple of matches before the game dies :'(

Next is PSPDEMOCENTER! Damn I feel like crying!. SOCOM FTB2 was my first shooter on PSP! This was a big part of my gaming childhood/teen years :'(
