This update is completely optional and it is designed to improve software stability. It is 97 mb and should take about 5 minutes. Even though it is small, I think it is setting up for a bigger update(s) and future apps like Youtube!

I don't understand optional updates. Why NOT improve your system?

I can see that if you are not having any stability issues, then it might be a waste of time to get these "optional" updates.

Then again, I'd really like these stability updates to have a list of what they are actually stabilizing. So if they list 5 games that should run better with the update, and I own one of those games, then I know to download it.

Or how about some smarter software that can tell if you have played the game before on your system and if it would be good for you to have this update be a mandatory one instead of an optional one ... so just in case you don't read all the latest Vita news, you aren't sitting around wondering why your games keep crashing or locking up.

Unless it adds something, I always skip optional updates. I don't have a Vita, but if I did... this is what I would do.

I see what you mean, but I think it is good to get it anyway even if there was some smarter software to tell you to get or not it because you never know if a future game has a stability problem so just get it anyways. You know what I mean?

Supposedly the patch is for Conception. Seeing as that game is only in Japan and is a PSP game, that's the reason it's optional.

That's great, but done you think a little more information can go a long way to playing their customers?

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with that sentiment at all. Just thought I would satisfy your curiosity.
