I've recently become a PS+ member and began downloading a lot of free games. However it seems that whenever I download something, the larger the file is, the more of a chance it is able to become corrupted. I've tried downloading infamous 2 and Warhammer 40k twice now and they both keep becoming corrupted when trying to install. I've noticed that this started happening about two weeks ago when I downloaded Red Dead Redemption, it was corrupted so I had to re-download it, then it was fine.

ps plus is an great advantage to get the best deals.though you need to be careful.ps plus downloads become really hard so you should rather stick to being a free user.

corruption occurs because of your connection to the internet. i wouldn't recommend people avoid being PS+ members because of this, but rather contact your ISP and complain about inadequate service.

Changing my account to ps plus shouldn't have affected anything. I just downloaded warhammer 40k with no problems now. The only thing was that I never selected it to download in the background. Im gonna try this with infamous 2 now. If it doesnt work, then its probably interruptions with my internet connection.

The thing about my internet connection is, if it was interrupted, I would have been signed out of the network first, right? I also tend to watch Netflix for a long period of time and don't have any connection issues. The game fully downloads, but when actually selecting it to install, then it corrupts. This also just happened when I tried downloading Outland, which is only a bit larger than 1 GB. I've decided to boot into safe mode and restore the file system (like disk check for a PC), and tried re-downloading and installing Outland, and this time it was successful. I'm trying to re-download infamous 2 now with this restored system and will see how it goes.

Tried fixing the connection issues the way Playstation support told me. Disconnected from DLNA server, shut the PS3 off, unplugged the router and modem for two minutes and plugged them back in (found that the antenna was removed by someone, not sure why, so I fixed that too), booted PS3 into safe mode and chose option 3 (restore file system). Tried downloading this game for like the 4th time. Still no luck. Corrupted upon install once again. Any advice on what to do in the meantime before I get another response from the support team?

QuoteAfter all that I'd say its a server side problem. To determine this we need someone who can download the same game... |

download queues, PSN sign-in timeoutes, and Netflix streaming are all different when it comes to interruptive events.
while it is common for a video to continue streaming even when you get disconnected for a second, downloads freak out usually when the software doing the downloading isn't coded/programmed properly. and sadly, a service where you are signed into it will not sign you out at the first sign of a disconnect. instead there is a timeout limit usually measured from milliseconds to seconds in which you can be disconnected and yet it will wait for you to reconnect. what i can say is that if you were on my internet connection, you wouldn't be dropped and your downloads would be flawless. this would imply that it isn't your console, or your PSN account, but rather your internet connection supplied by your ISP. just sayin' |

Maybe you could go to a buddys house with fast internet and use your PS3 there to test the speed the system is getting.
My house used to be like a starbucks for my friends wifi stuff before the fire, my dad ran a home buisness and we had 2 crazy fast connections from verizon fios. If you know anyone with fios go to their place and test it, its great! |

Quote Funny thing is, I have verizon fios internet, and so far its been great up till now. I can still surf the net and stuff without any noticeable issues, but now it decides to just mess my PS3 downloads. The Playstation support team replied and said that there might be a problem with the router itself and recommended making sure certain ports are open. They are: TCP Ports: 80, 443, 465, 983, 5223, and 10070 - 10080 UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658, and 10070 If that doesn't work I will try to do what Untamedbeast said and put my PS3 through a DMZ. I'll try these out now and post how everything goes. |

Make sure you have at-least 3 times the data when download/installing inFamous 2
I had the same problem, but it was because of my hard drive space and not my connection Though it could still be a connection problem Clear some data, see what happens Also, make sure you don't have a bandwidth cap! |

Ironic lol. Another possibility is you have a screwy router thats not getting that speed to the PS3 even at 100% strength. but you would also have this problem with all wifi devices, but depending on what thos other things are though it may only be really noticeable on the PS3. We once used a modem router combo that came with the service my alienware had super lag over wifi enen right beside the router. Ended up getting a $200 gaming router if thats your problem a $30-$50 should do fine |

Putting my ps3 in dmz allowed me to download large file games like bf3 (especially that 1.05 update) so it should work for you. Hope you know how to do it.

Tried again by putting it in a DMZ, restarted the PS3 and re-downloaded the game. AGAIN, it still fails the install.
How I feel right now: 168116-desk flip.pngThanks to everyone for helping me out so far though. Any other help would be appreciated. I'm thinking of maybe just giving up on this game now since it doesn't seem worth all the trouble to go through, and I don't know if I should buy a new router or not just because I can't download one game but have no other internet connection issues with any other devices whatsoever. |

I was saying you would have the problem on everything if it was your router, if its just this game its not that. Have you tried connecting your PS3 vie wired connection, just in case during the DL time your losing something and its corrupting? Whats funny is I tried to DL a game trailer and it keeps coming out corrupt, has been for days but everything else i DL is fine? Maybe its a problem with PSN? Anyone else have something similar? |
