Many people have problems with uploading an avatar or photo once they sign-up. This quick tutorial should walk you through the steps so that you avoid any problems.
Step 1) Read the User Agreement Policy ... if you were planning on uploading something that violates our rules don't even bother continuing. Otherwise ... carry on.

Step 2) Secondly, be sure to be using a PC and not a PSP. Why you ask? ... you can edit avatars and photos easier on a PC if needed. Yes it can be done on a PSP but is exceedingly difficult.

Step 3) Click "Profile" near the top of the site to go to your Profile.

Step 4) Scroll down until you run across either the Avatar or Photo section of your Profile.

Step 5) Choose which you want to upload either an Avatar or a Photo by clicking the appropriate "Browse" button.

Step 6a) Here is where it becomes complicated. Our regular Members can only upload an Avatar with a max area of 60 pixels by 60 pixels AND a max file size of 4 kilobytes AND a file extension of either .jpg or .png (please note, no .gif images are allowed).

Step 6b) But wait! If you have been here for over a year then your rank should have auto-updated to from Member to Core Member. Because of this, the max has been increased so that you can upload an Avatar with a max area of 110 pixels wide by 60 pixels high AND a max file size of 8 kilobytes AND a file extension of either .jpg or .png (please note, no .gif images are allowed).

Step 6c) If, however, you have donated to our site (see Donation Page), achieved Plus Member status (see User Groups/Ranks Page), or are a staff member, then you actually have the honor of having a larger avatar. Donators can upload an Avatar with a max area of 170 pixels wide by 60 pixels high AND a max file size of 12kb AND a file extension of either .jpg or .png (please note, no .gif images are allowed).

Step 6d) If you are doing a photo then it needs to have an area of 128 pixels by 128 pixels or less AND the file size has to be 8kb or less AND file extension either .jpg or .png (please note, no .gif images are allowed).

Step 7) This is an optional step ... if you have edited your avatar or photo to the right area but its file size is still too big, you can shrink it by lowering the quality of the image. The technique I use is saving the file as a .jpg using Paint.NET (LINK) it will ask you what quality level to save it at ... just lower the quality until it is below the proper file size and save it.

Step 8) If you did all that and you got the proper sized images to use then you just need to select them in that browse window that you brought up back in step 5.

Step 9) Don't forget to click "Submit" after that or the avatar or photo won't be uploaded to your account.
