User specific ranks;
- previously "Founder" rank, this is reserved for PDC's owner
- previously "Server Op" rank, this is reserved for PDC's webmaster

Currently there are staff ranks;
- have been appointed to assist with article approval
- the people who keep everyone else in line
- staff that are no longer considered active

Also there exists specialized ranks;
- have recently donated to the site
- have previously donated to the site

The following are the basic ranks;
(those who signed up over four years ago)
(those who signed up over one year ago)
(users within their first year of membership)

As well as, not so special ranks;
- they are new and haven't activated their account yet
- have disrespected the site and are not welcome back

There are a few things that differ between the basic ranks above. Aside from a small difference in PFS, they each will have different rates at which they get removed due to inactivity. The current planned rates are as follows.
    - New Member = removed if not the account isn't activated within 24 hours
    - Member = removed if not logged in at least once every 90 days
    - Core Member = removed if not logged in at least once every 180 days
    - Plus Member = not removed due to inactivity (subject to change)

Currently, if you are a staff member or have donator privileges, then you need not worry about getting removed. As long as you have a special rank you won't be removed.

NEW - Furthermore, the new Plus Member rank is to be considered nearly identical to the Donator rank for the time being. As time goes on this is subjected to change based on site needs.

NEWER - Also, there is another Plus Member rank (this one is blue), and it is what people get now after their Donator rank expires.

the most frequently asked question is ...
"How do I increase my rank?"
Answer is you don't ... after a year your rank should automatically adjust from Member to Core Member, and after four years your rank should automatically adjust from Core Member to Plus Member.

the second most frequently asked question is ...
"How do I become a moderator (aka staff)?"
Answer is that the active staff hand pick users who appear to be good candidates for modship (been here for a long time, are fairly active, and follow the rules). New staff are picked only when the current staff feel there is a need. There is no need to contact us about becoming a staff member or telling us that you think we need more staff members. Doing so will only serve to annoy us.

another frequently asked question is ...
"How do I become an editor?"
Similar to moderators, new editors are selected by the current staff.

and lastly ...
"How can I become a donator?"
You must support the site by monetary means. This means you give us money to help run the site. For more info on that you should check out our Donation Page.
