In Homerun Hitters, you thing you would play some simple baseball. Actually, this isn’t the case, its more just …. Simple..

Gameplay: Its made for two players, but you can play against a computer. You turn the PSP vertically, and you se the directional pad, or the buttons. When batting, you just have to hit the ball. This is why it isn’t really baseball, its just as the name suggests … Homerun Hitters. If your ball is hit on the ground in a spot where you would usually be called out, your out. Now if your ball makes it to the wall, there are different sections which will dictate your outcome. Example, hit it to left field and there will be a section that says out (just an example). Hit it there and your out. Then there’s a homerun of course, and so on. While pitching, you just try to get the opposing batter out using a series of useless pitches. There is a curve ball, fast ball, splitter and a “magic ball”. Its not fun while playing by yourself, and with two people its quite the same.

Graphics: Bad. Simple illustrations work for a fun game, not for games like this. The baseball players look like little children who play golf, but just thought they’d take a swing with the bat today. There are no animations of interest whatsoever either, so every pitch feels the same and you feel no sense of accomplishment or progress.

Sound: Like the baseball anthem? If so, you’ll be able to last for one game. If not, plug in some music while playing or be prepared to go insane. Very bland and boring, it will cause you to lose taste in the game quicker.

Lifespan:Unless you have a 5 year old sibling who begs you to play, you’ll only really play this game once. Nothing is appealing about this title at all. Hitting a homerun is less than rewarding, it actually feels like you’d rather not of hit that homer, just to hopefully face some competition. There are different teams with very small statistical differences, but these differences apparently make no difference while playing. hitting a homerun is less than rewarding, it actually feels like you’d rather not of hit that homer, just to hopefully face some competition.

Final Note: Not a game you should buy … ever. I’m the biggest baseball fan, but this was just a poor effort by developers. The vertical control was a nice thought, but is uncomfortable and just doesn’t work. I understand this is a Mini, so I reviewed it as a Mini. I wouldn’t waste my time looking at this game.
